Best Reasons To Install Radiant Floor Heating In Your New Home

Building a home from scratch puts all of the power in your hands. The decisions that you make from the very beginning can pay off big time in the future if you choose wisely. You are tasked with choosing the vital systems for the new home, with the residential heating and cooling system being one of the most important. Traditional heating systems feature vents that are usually positioned inside of the ceiling. Radiant floor heating is a modern invention that just might be a much better option for your house.

Cold Floors Bring On The Chill

Trying to curl up on the floor and enjoy a great movie with the family is nearly impossible when the floor is freezing cold. If you plan to put in hardwood floors you can pretty much expect them to be almost freezing during the winter season. Just trying to walk across the floor with bare feet can be a chore when the drafts are so biting that all you want to do is find a good pair of socks and take cover.

The air in your home goes through a natural sifting process. Heat tends to rise because it isn't as heavy or dense as cold air. That leaves all of the chilly air to settle at the bottom of each room. If you have the air vents installed in the ceiling the heat will simply co-mingle with the warm air that is already near the top of the room.

When you look at the situation from this perspective it begins to make sense why you should use radiant floor heating. Large heating panels are installed beneath the flooring material that you've chosen and the heat rises upward instead of trying to push downward.

Getting Radiant Heat From The Beginning Saves Time & Money

Choosing the right systems when you are in the building process is the key to saving money. If you believe that putting in a basic central heating system and then switching over to radiant heat at a later date is a good idea, you should probably think again. Put those top-of-the-line features in from the very beginning so you won't have to waste time and money on costly renovations projects down the line.

Radiant heating is a wonderful invention that should make your house so much more comfortable. Talk to your contractor and let them know that you want radiant heating installed in the floors of your new home.
